Eco Tourism

The International Ecotourism Society describes ecotourism as encompassing the following main principles:

  • minimiseing the impact of tourism
  • build environmental and cultural awareness and respect
  • provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
  • provide direct financial benefits for conservation
  • provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people
  • raise sensitivity to host countries’ political, environmental, and social climate

So all companies promoting ethical travel, responsible travel and being environmentally friendly must take the above principles into account.  The companies listed below have plenty of evidence to show that they fulfil these criteria and are committed to ethical and green issues and minimising the impact of tourism on the communities they visit.

The team here at Ethical and Green have researched many companies in the responsible tourism sector and have come up with a list of five that we like the most.  As we couldn’t choose between them they are listed in alphabetical order.
