I have been using Method since it came out as I have an allergy to Household chemicals. For the longest time I had to use vinigar and water but no more thanks to Method.

Agreed that unless there is legislation to prevent the availability of these products, then the consumer drives market demand. Money is tight so the decision to purchase more expensive, ethical products can be difficult for some. However, if we as consumers support only ethical fashion then unethical options will be driven out of the market. To help with this consumers need to be educated, through visuals/video is best, on what happens in communities where these unethical practices are at work.

With designers launching fair trade and eco-friendly fashion, there are great options now available. We are certainly seeing this in the Australian market.

I was impressed with the program, and I am glad that it is teaching people that there is more to life than just shopping... there is swapping instead!

Albeit, people are being led by their wallets - I am glad that in a back handed way that this is supporting the environment. Also, I hope that this will lead people to invest in quality items - I would rather spend the money that I have on a well manufactured, and structured garment that is timeless; than jump on every trend bandwagon going. Whilst, there is a market for shops such as Primark. The addage by it cheap, but it twice springs to mind... and not only will it affect our wallets in the long term, it is helping to destroy the earth.

Quail here! Yes, it has been a dire 6 months for the budding ethical fashion market. Since my label puts as many ticks in ethical and green and British boxes as I can, I can't afford to sell items as cheap as the high street. So when Quail is having a sale, basically it means, I'm breaking even. It costs money to manufacture and post items to customers. Marketing is done on a shoestring!

I enjoyed watching Twiggy's programme. It highlighted British innovation and ingenuity in the fashion industry. This country used to have a much larger fashion industry and traditional manufacturing skill base. I'm a fan of British design and British manufacture!

Channel 4's 'Dispatches' programme recently featured "What's in your Wine?". The documentary went over like a lead balloon amongst the wine industry as makers and sellers rely on the mystique of wine as a being a premium product.

What the show revealed, and what organic wine producers already know, is that much of the wine sold worldwide is actually a confection not much better than a sugary soft drink! In other words, so much additivies are added to the grape juice to make the wine taste better, boost the alcohol content, pretty up the colour or masses amounts of sugar to do the job that the grapes should be able to do for themselves.

I've been a fan of organic wine for a few years. If you're curious, watch this fascinating documentary online:

Too right.

I will be taking my protest one step further than just not watching x factor though, i shall be turning the TV off on a saturday night.

To be honest it only depresses me anyway, all those people declaring to the nation how 'this is everything to me' and 'i'm doing this so that my family and i can have a better life'....Do these people truely believe that the insanity of stardom will do that? Maybe what they actually mean is that being famous will allow them to buy all those useless things that they've always wanted but simply do not need - now or ever.

X factor seems to be the ultimate in promoting consumerism to the masses. I do not want to be one of those people.

I think your comment that "What the X Factor demonstrates is that green issues aren’t mainstream enough yet," is spot on. Sad, but spot on.
